A brand at the forefront
The saga of one of the most influential appliance-brands of all time begins in the small German village of Gaggenau in 1683, with an ironworks founded by Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden.
Throughout the industrialisation that ensued over the next few centuries, Gaggenau forged a legacy of innovation, first with items such as agricultural machinery. As the 20th century dawned, they expanded their output to encompass everything from coal-fired stoves to bicycles. Under the leadership of one Dr. Otto von Blanquet, the business shifted its focus to developing the labour-saving kitchen: producing coal, gas-fired and electric stoves - bringing its questing spirit, the endless pursuit of excellence, to the world of the appliances.
