A brand at the forefront
The saga of one of the most influential appliance-brands of all time begins in the small German village of Gaggenau in 1683, with an ironworks founded by Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm von Baden. Throughout the industrialisation that ensued over the next few centuries, Gaggenau forged a legacy of innovation, first with items such as agricultural machinery. As the 20th century dawned, they expanded their output to encompass everything from coal-fired stoves to bicycles. Under the leadership of one Dr. Otto von Blanquet, the business shifted its focus to developing the labour-saving kitchen: producing coal, gas-fired and electric stoves - bringing its questing spirit, the endless pursuit of excellence, to the world of the appliances.

Innovation
From the time they embraced kitchen appliance development, Gaggenau has always been at the avant-garde of the industry. With the currency reform following the second world war, for example, Gaggenau headed the drive to discover levels of economy and efficiency in its product - spearheading, for example, the evolution of built-in appliances. Today, they continue to lead the way in technology such as steam, ventilation and induction. With some three hundred years of innovation behind them, Gaggenau’s determination to pursue ever higher-standards of excellence will ensure this legacy continues.

Quality
Quality underpins the Gaggenau philosophy. Their appliances use only high-quality materials: stainless steel, aluminium, brass, cast iron, enamel and glass - authentic in their aesthetic appeal and durability. Precision and expertise are rigorously applied at every step of the manufacturing process: for example, many of the production steps involved in producing Gaggenau Combi-steam ovens in the Alsace city of Lipsheim are completed by hand. Meticulous electronic and functional tests are then applied to each appliance, requiring over twenty minutes to test the heat-up process and steam production.
